Got a craving for music?  Groton-Dunstable’s Music Honors Society has been hard at work putting on multiple musical events and fundraisers.  Here’s some of the stuff that has already occurred:

  • There have been two of the renowned Open Mic Nights (September 17th and November 13th)
  • A Basket Raffle, which included thematic prize baskets such as the Spa Basket and the Music Basket
  • An Ultimate Frisbee Tournament at the High School on November 18th
  • Many kids went to North Middlesex Regional High School to audition for the District Choir and Band.
  • The Chamber choir performed at the Dunstable Octoberfest on October 3rd
  • The Pep Band, new to the school this year, has played at all home football games thus far, including the Thanksgiving game on November 25th.
  • The Drum Corps performed at the high school’s pep rally on November 24th.
  • The Band/Chorus Winter Concert on December 15th went spectacularly.
  • On December 17th the Chorus and Chamber Choir toured around the district, and went to various local venues to perform.
  • On December 23rd the Jazz Band and Concert Band did a similar tour.
  • On December 9th the Chamber Choir performed at the Westford Regency
  • 1 percussionist and 11 vocalists were accepted into the District Choir/District Band, 6 of them qualifying to audition for All-States.

If you’ve missed any or all of these events, there’s no need to worry.  MHS has got a lot planned for the rest of the school year:

  • Open Mic Nights in January and February
  • The first Grange Hall Band Night will be on January 21st.
  • Battle of the Bands in March
  • The Band/Chorus Spring Concert in May at the Performing Arts Center in the Middle School
  • The annual music field trip (This year it will be to New York City)
  • Groton-Dunstable Alumni concert in June
  • The Chamber Choir will also be performing at the Superintendant’s office, Rivercourt, and the Senior Citizen’s Center in Groton.
  • The District Choir and Band events will occur from January 12th to 15th

MHS is working diligently to bring you this and more. If we know one thing, it is that there is no lack of music in our community! For more information, go to www.gdmusic.org. To stay in touch with all the Music Honors Society events, sign up for the music newsletter.
